Audrey Tautou
Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in Puy-de-Domme France on August 9 1976 the oldest child of four. The parents of Audrey Tautou who was both dentists as well as a teacher, understood and supported their daughter's passion for drama and theater at a young stage. This support was more than enough to combat her ambition to be a primatologist. Her rise to fame as a young actress was quick and marked by her early successes. In 1998, after completing her degree she was invited to be a part of Jeunes Premiers which is a French show on TV that is a talent-scouting initiative, which is sponsored by Canal+. There she was awarded the prize for the Best Young Actress in the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. The result was that she decided to pursue a acting profession. Though she was a student at The Institut Catholique de Paris and attended church in her youth Tautou is now averse to the Catholic tradition, saying she's not Catholic. Alongside her acting work, she is also pursuing modelling. She modelled in the commercials for L'Oreal Mont Blanc, Chanel and was dubbed "The Chanel Muse". Photographing is also a hobby and she has recently displayed her work in the Arles festival under the name Superficial. Her work is focused on celebrities in addition to popularity. The exhibition also includes portraits of herself and focus on journalists that have been watching Tautou's career since her dramatic success after Amelie. Audrey Tautou's debut performance, in the role of Amelie Poulain's main actress in Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie poulain, earned her international stardom. Amelie has been a box office hit internationally and recognized at many awards events around the globe. It remains the highest grossing French language film to date in the US. After this film's success, Tautou appeared in many movies ranging from British dramatics like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long dimanche de fiancailles and moving into Hollywood with Ron Howard's direction of The Da Vinci Code, a Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks.
